TURKISH ECONOMY: REMARKS BY DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER MR. MEHMET ŞİMŞEK DURING G-20 FINANCE CHIEFS MEETING IN CHENGDU
Regarding the recent declaration of “state of emergency” in Turkey, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Mehmet Şimşek stated in Chengdu that Turkey remained a “rule of law country” and “democratic institutions would continue to function” since this measure was necessary to “honor democracy” and “mitigate risks”.
Stressing that any economic fallout from the failed coup in Turkey would be short lived and tolerable, Mr. Şimşek stated that the economic growth of Turkey in 2016 is expected to be around 4%.
It was also emphasized by the Deputy Prime Minister that the international community should stand by the Turkish People and their legitimate Government.
